Hi,
I got this email from the one who calls himself Bob Ashley which I guess is short for Robert Ashley :
"Hi,i am keen, how i wish i could come and view what am buying from you. but am currently out of town at the moment and i want it picked up and delivered before i get back, though i will be back in couple of weeks. Due to my inability to make a bank deposit, I would be paying via PayPal which is safer for me. Kindly send me a paypal payment invoice or create an account at www.paypal.no, if you don't have one. I will make a concrete pick up arrangement with my transport agent who will be coming over for pick up once you receive full payment into your PayPal account. Have a nice day. P.S Few photos will be appreciated as well."
His email address was bobashley09@gmail.com.

Hi

I got something similar, scottbill00@gmail.com wanted me to send some pics of my car and my email address and set up the payment via paypal. I was hesitant but I sent the pics and the email address... I did not set up the invoice in paypal, not sure how he can affect me now.... I went and cancelled my paypal account just in case.

Got the same mail. Unfortunately gave my mail address and sent an paypal invoice, but for me it stops there. Wanted me to transfer money via western union for the pick up transportation costs, after having received money via paypal. However to an address in Nigeria!!! Never believe it. No money has arrived at paypal.

I will report the matter.

The same person contacted me (finn.no) today through sms by the name lisasahyoun - no valid return sms - and asked me to send email to bobashley07@gmail.com. Thanks for your warning here!

Same type of message:

Hi, sorry for replying you in English am very keen How i wish i could come and view what am buying from you. but am currently out of town at the moment and i want it picked up before i get back, though i will be back in couple of weeks. Due to my inability to make a bank deposit, I would be paying via PayPal which is safer for me. Kindly send me a paypal payment invoice or create an account at www.paypal.no if you don't have one. Bob

I told him that i will only sell to someone that can come and pay and collect at the same time. I then got this answer today:

Thanks for the mail, I will have love to come and see it, but as i said before am out of state at the moment and i want it pick up before i come back. as i just get married and am on my honey moon with my wife,so that is why i want it pick up before i got back as i surprise package for my wife,.so once i receive the paypal request from you i will make the payment right away and my transport agent do not do cash delivering theirs is just to pick up and they will come for the pick and the transport agent do not do cash delivering their is just to pick up, so I hope you wont mind to get an account with PayPal. Its reliable and easy to use PayPal,all you need to do is visit www.paypal.no and register with them. When you are done with the registration send me the email used for the registration with PayPal so i can pay in. Await your response..

Thanks !!

He really put som effort into this scams. But tanks god for google and pages like this! :))

I got a text message from this guy just a few minutes ago from bobashley07@gmail.com. I had just posted an item on finn.no, and thought it would be smart to google the email-address. The text was written in poor norwegian and I immediately got a bad feeling about it.
It seems my assumptions were correct :)

Thanks for the heads up!

I recieved the same response today... Glad I googled his email address! Thank you to this web site! I posted an add for a piano on Finn.no

The same bobashley contacted me as well, sending the exact same messages above.

What can he achieve by this? Paypal would not give away any information that will let him into my bank account?

Vær forsiktig med navnet Tony Robinson i Tyrkia. Dette navnet er knyttet til avhenting av penger gjennom Western Union, til transport og forsikring på større ting som skal hentes. Alt dette er Spam og svindel.

I am currently experiencing a similar situation. The individual has said that they are at see and unable to view my T.V. I had posted for sale on eMoo. They indicated they would have their picker agent collect the item and want me to complete a Western Union money transfer. They indicated they made a payment for T.V. and their agent fees and sent a total of $650.00 via PayPal. However, how would I be able to complete the money transfer if no money has been sent. They sent an address for the agent which is located in the USA. I was instructed to send the money and send the money transfer code to an email address which was a yahoo account and not PayPal. That's when I thought something was fishy. Further, the email that was supposedly from PayPal informed me not to contact customer service as they would have no record of the transaction. This made my alarms go off even more. Ultimately I will not be sending any money and will prefer for someone to purchase the item that can actually view and pay in person.

Yep same email here too. Although I opted for the bank transfer method and he was very up for it. I gave him the transfer details and received an email (Clearly Fake) saying money has gone into my account when it hadn't. Does he not realize people have mobile banking these days?? Stay away from "bobashley07@gmail.com"

Yeah and same again here, I was selling a laptop on Gumtree for £250. He said he was hearing impaired that's why he sent me the text. Later tonight he send the money from his account to 'Netbank' and when I had posted the laptop if I could response to the email from 'Netbank' with the postage reference code and then the money would be put into my account. He said it was his son's birthday and that was why he was buying the laptop, this is the postage address I was given

Matt Hemings
1 Britten court
Longwell green
Bristol, Bs30 7de
UK

Same email - bobashley07@gmail.com

I've just had exactly the same thing as above. The frustrating thing is I actually, stupidly, fell for it and have sent a PS4 to bobashley07@gmail.com. Here's where it gets absurd. I've spent a lot of today on the phone to the police and the royal mail. The parcel is still at the depot in Accrington but they won't give it to the police and the police do not have the power to take it. So my PS4 will be delivered to this [***] on Saturday and there's nothing I can do to stop it! Can't believe it.

Hi got and text from "gumtree asking me to email bobashley07@gmail.com"

this is the email i received from him.

Sorry i had to text you as am hearing impaired, I am very keen. How I wish i could come and have a look as am currently away with work at the moment and i will like you to help me post it to my son in Nottingham here in UK. His birthday is around the corner.

I would like it posted via Royal mail next day delivery. I will cover postage cost. I will paying via PayPal/Bank transfer as advised by Gumtree. but if you can let me know your asking price, I am more than happy to make a sensible and non-refusable offer.

Replied back to him a few times but it didnt make sense. I am selling a ps4 pro for 315. he wants me to send it via royal mail next day delivery which costs £30. so in total 345. for that price he can get one directly from a store.

Good thing i google searched his email address. most definitely a scam.

My son who is disabled had a text message from this scum Bob Ashley due to my son selling his Xbox one. My son then had an email from bobashley07@gmail.com sadly as my son us disabled he fell for it as bob Ashley said he was deaf but wanted to buy the Xbox for his sons birthday. The Xbox had to be sent to an address on next day delivery and payment had been made through Netbank. But it was all a scam so sadly my son lost his Xbox and received no money.
Someone needs to stop this from happening to more people.
